Aerpro AMDVW5 10" Multimedia Receiver VW MIB-PQ Amp Retained
10" Wireless CarPlay for MIB-PQ VW Models Infodaptor Retains Amp, Parking Tones and Vehicle Menu, Low Resolution Output
Product Overview
The Aerpro AMDVW5 is the Infodaptor-equipped companion to the AMDVW4, covering the same MIB-PQ generation Volkswagen models with a more comprehensive factory feature retention package. Where the AMDVW4 retains SWC only, the AMDVW5 additionally retains the factory amplified audio system, parking tones, and vehicle menu all via the included Infodaptor Interface Harness. The trade-off is low resolution output from the Infodaptor, as this integration uses the head unit's rear camera input to carry vehicle system data.
Covered vehicles:
- Amarok (2016-on)
- Beetle (2015–2016)
- Caddy (2015–2020)
- Multivan (2016–2019)
- Tiguan (2015–2016)*
- Transporter (2016–2019)
Tiguan size warning: On Tiguan (2015–2016) models, the 10" kit partially covers the factory hazard button.
Low resolution output: The Infodaptor Interface connects to the rear camera input on the head unit; the output from this interface is low resolution. Factory reverse camera retention requires the separately sold APVVW03 adaptor. Stop-start models may require the separately sold APIGNSTB ignition stabiliser. Phone button may require removing a fuse from the factory Bluetooth module.
The kit includes the AM1005D multimedia receiver, matte black facia kit, Infodaptor Interface Harness (Infolink SWC), SWC patch lead, antenna adaptor, and a surface mount rear camera (110-degree, IP67, 6m RCA cable with in-line reverse trigger).
Features & Benefits
- MIB-PQ factory unit models only — suits the same generation as the AMDVW4 (with Beetle added); earlier VW models with Panasonic or Blaupunkt amplification use the AMDVW2 or AMDVW3
- Infodaptor Interface Harness — connects to the rear camera input to carry vehicle system data; enables retention of the factory amplifier, parking tones, and vehicle menu that the base AMDVW4 does not retain
- Low resolution output — the Infodaptor uses the camera input, so all video output from this interface is low resolution; this applies to vehicle information display and connected camera signals
- Factory amplifier retained — the factory MIB-PQ amplified audio system is preserved via the Infodaptor and amplifier retention path
- Parking tones retained — factory parking sensor tone function is preserved after installation via the Infodaptor
- Vehicle menu retained — factory vehicle menu access is preserved via the Infodaptor Interface
- SWC retained — factory steering wheel controls carry over; phone button may require factory BT module fuse removal
- Factory reverse camera — APVVW03 required (sold separately) — the rear camera input is occupied by the Infodaptor; retaining the factory camera requires the separately sold APVVW03 adaptor
- Stop-start models — APIGNSTB may be required (sold separately) — vehicles with stop-start systems may require the APIGNSTB ignition stabiliser to prevent head unit power instability
- Beetle (2015–2016) included — the AMDVW5 adds the Beetle to the model coverage compared to the AMDVW4; no size warning applies to the Beetle
- Tiguan (2015–2016) size warning — the 10" display partially covers the factory hazard button on this model year
- Surface mount camera included (110°, IP67) — not the standard 720P AHD camera; a 110-degree surface mount unit with 6m RCA cable and in-line reverse trigger, mountable as front, rear, or reverse camera with optional parking guidelines
- Matte black vehicle-specific facia kit — matched to MIB-PQ generation VW interior; antenna adaptor included
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto — connect over Wi-Fi for maps, music, calls, and messages; wired USB also supported
- Built-in DAB+ digital radio — digital audio clarity and expanded station access; AM/FM with RDS included
- Bluetooth V5 with HD Voice — hands-free calling, audio streaming, and phonebook access; internal and external microphone included

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the AMDVW5 and the AMDVW4?
Both cover the same MIB-PQ generation VW models (with the AMDVW5 adding the Beetle 2015–2016). The AMDVW4 retains SWC only and uses a standard harness with no Infodaptor; the AMDVW5 uses the Infodaptor Interface to additionally retain the factory amplifier, parking tones, and vehicle menu. The trade-off is that the AMDVW5 outputs low resolution video through the Infodaptor.
What is the Infodaptor and why does it output low resolution?
The Infodaptor is a vehicle integration module that reads factory system data (amplifier, SWC, parking tones, vehicle menu) and transmits it as an analogue video signal via the head unit's rear camera input. Because it uses the camera input rather than a native digital interface, the output is low resolution. This is a deliberate integration architecture, not a fault.
Can I retain the factory reverse camera?
Yes, but only with the separately sold APVVW03 camera retention adaptor. Because the rear camera input on the head unit is occupied by the Infodaptor Interface, the factory camera requires the APVVW03 to connect via an alternative path.
Does this include the same camera as other Aerpro kits?
No — the AMDVW5 includes a surface mount camera with a 110-degree lens and IP67 rating, supplied with 6m of RCA video cable and an in-line reverse trigger. This is a standard definition surface mount unit, not the 720P AHD Sony sensor camera found in most other Aerpro kits.
Does the Beetle 2015-2016 have any size or obstruction warnings?
No — the Beetle (2015–2016) is not starred in the supplier data, meaning no size-related obstruction warnings apply to this model. The only starred model in this kit is the Tiguan (2015–2016), where the 10" kit partially covers the factory hazard button.
