Aerpro AMDVW15 9" Multimedia Receiver VW Beetle Tiguan MIB-PQ
9" Wireless CarPlay for VW Beetle and Tiguan MIB-PQ Infodaptor Integration Retains Amp, Parking Tones and Vehicle Menu at the Cost of Camera Resolution
Product Overview
The Aerpro AMDVW15 is a complete head unit upgrade kit for the Volkswagen Beetle (2015–2016) and Tiguan (2015–2016) fitted with the factory MIB-PQ head unit. Its defining component is the included Infodaptor Interface a proprietary integration module that connects between the vehicle and the aftermarket head unit, enabling vehicle information to be displayed on the 9" screen and retaining the factory amplified system, parking tones, and vehicle menu access. SWC (via the Infolink harness) is also retained, and the factory reverse camera can be retained with the separately sold Aerpro APVVW03 adaptor.
Critical trade-off: The Infodaptor Interface connects via the head unit's rear camera input. Because this input is occupied by the Infodaptor, all camera and video output on this head unit operates at low resolution. This is an inherent limitation of how the Infodaptor integrates, not a fault and affects both the included surface mount camera and any connected aftermarket camera. Buyers who prioritise high-quality camera image quality should consider whether this trade-off is acceptable before purchasing.
Other important notes: Stop-start models may require the Aerpro APIGNSTB ignition stabiliser (sold separately). The factory reverse camera requires the Aerpro APVVW03 camera retention adaptor (sold separately). The phone button may require fuse removal from the factory Bluetooth module to function.
Features & Benefits
- Infodaptor Interface included — the proprietary integration module connects via the head unit's rear camera input, enabling vehicle data to appear on the aftermarket display and retaining the factory amplified system, parking tones, and vehicle menu — a significantly richer feature set than the AMDVW14 for these specific models
- All camera and video output is low resolution — the Infodaptor occupies the rear camera input, which reduces all camera and video signal quality to low resolution output on this head unit; this is an inherent limitation of the integration method, not a defect
- Factory amplifier retained — the Infodaptor preserves the factory amplified audio system without a separate amplifier retention harness
- Parking tones retained — factory parking tone function carries over after installation via the Infodaptor
- Vehicle menu retained — full vehicle menu access is maintained on the aftermarket head unit via the Infodaptor
- Infolink SWC harness with phone button — the Infolink-specific SWC harness retains factory steering wheel controls; the phone button may require fuse removal from the factory Bluetooth module to activate
- Factory reverse camera — APVVW03 required (sold separately) — the factory reverse camera can be retained but requires the separately sold Aerpro APVVW03 camera retention adaptor; without it, the factory camera is not retained
- Stop-start models may need APIGNSTB — the ignition stabiliser (sold separately) may be required to prevent the head unit cycling off during automatic stop events
- Surface mount camera included — 110°, IP67, optional parking guidelines — 110-degree field of view, 6m RCA video cable with in-line reverse trigger, optional parking guidelines, IP67 rated, mountable as front, rear, or reverse
- HD camera resolution further reduced — connecting an aftermarket HD camera to this head unit results in reduced resolution, compounded by the Infodaptor's impact on camera input quality
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto — connect over Wi-Fi for maps, music, calls, and messages; wired USB also supported
- 9" capacitive touchscreen at 1024x600 resolution — large, responsive display across the Beetle and Tiguan MIB-PQ platforms
- Built-in DAB+ digital radio — digital audio and expanded station access; AM/FM with RDS, 18 FM and 12 AM presets included
- Bluetooth V5 with HD Voice — hands-free calling, audio streaming, and phonebook access; internal and external microphone included
- Matte black vehicle-specific facia kit — matched to the Beetle and Tiguan 2015–2016 interior trim

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Infodaptor and what does it do?
The Infodaptor is a proprietary interface module included in this kit. It connects between the vehicle's factory wiring and the aftermarket head unit via the head unit's rear camera input, carrying vehicle data signals that allow the factory amplified system, parking tones, and vehicle menu to be retained and displayed on the aftermarket screen — functions that cannot be preserved using a standard wiring harness alone.
Why is the camera output low resolution on this kit?
The Infodaptor uses the head unit's rear camera input to carry its vehicle data signal. Because this input is occupied, all camera and video signals processed through this head unit are output at low resolution — this applies to the included surface mount camera and any aftermarket camera connected to the second input. This is an inherent limitation of the Infodaptor integration method, not a fault with the head unit.
How does this differ from the AMDVW14 for the same MIB-PQ platform?
The AMDVW14 covers five VW models and retains SWC only, with no factory amp, parking tones, or vehicle menu retention. The AMDVW15 covers only the Beetle and Tiguan 2015–2016, but uses the Infodaptor to retain the factory amplifier, parking tones, and vehicle menu — at the cost of low-resolution camera output. The AMDVW15 is the higher-retention, lower-camera-quality option for those specific models.
Can I retain my factory reverse camera?
Yes — but only with the separately sold Aerpro APVVW03 camera retention adaptor, which is not included in this kit. Note that even with the factory camera retained, the output resolution will be low due to the Infodaptor occupying the rear camera input.
Do I need anything else for stop-start models?
Stop-start VW models may require the Aerpro APIGNSTB ignition stabiliser (sold separately) to maintain steady power to the head unit during automatic engine stop-start cycles. Whether this is needed depends on the specific vehicle and can be determined during installation.
